Alice Notley reads The Human Ghoul

Conceived as a ‘poem video’ the work is a collaboration between artist Vanessa Hodgkinson and poet Marianne Morris.
The film is a mixture of a shoot at Leighton House Museum, London, where the artist is recreating Ingres’ Le Bain Turc, surrounded by her own personal ‘Orientalist’ objects that tell her story, and footage from a British documentary on the storming of the Iranian embassy in Iran in the early 1980s, as well as YouTube footage of more recent activities at the embassy in London, but also the British Embassy in Tehran.

FRESH POEMS. Trafficker Press have published a selection of texts from my Iran Documents (you can read a few mini-excerpts here). Trafficker’s chaps are gorgeously handmade and letterpressed by the inestimable Erin Morrill, and available from their website here look, where you can also read an interview between me and California-based poet David Brazil (whose Mass of the Phoenix has also just come out with Trafficker) on various aspects of the book, practice, protest and Ancient Greece. This is too much goodness for one Monday morning, surely. HOW WILL TUESDAY KEEP UP.
I WILL BE READING AT THIS INTERNATIONAL RENOWNED MISOGYNIST PARTY THIS FRIDAY. PLEASE COME AND BRING YOUR POEMS I AM SO EXCITED:
On Friday night the CAMBRIDGE UNION will play host to celebrity sex abuser and internationally renowned MISOGYNIST: Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
We will march on this event and protest at the Union Society’s collusion with Strauss-Kahn, a man who is in no way deserving of the uncritical platform he has been given to speak upon that night.
Following the protest you are invited to attend an event that defies DSK’s attempt to undermine and silence the voices of women who protest at the gross ABUSE OF POWER by men such as he.
